AWANA Clubs - Children's Ministry
A Message from the Commander
Have you already picked out which Valentine’s cards you’re going to give your friends? February is the month we share love with people we care about. As you get ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day with cards, candy, and parties, remember that God shared the greatest love-gift of all time. I bet you already know what that gift is . . . that’s right . . . it’s Jesus.
John 3:16 is first verse you learn when you start Awana. “For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” One of my favorite things to do with this verse is to make it more personal.
Like this: “For God loved Wayne so much that He gave his one and only Son, so that when Wayne believes in him, Wayne will not perish but have eternal life.”
You try it. Put your name in place of mine. God sent Jesus for you and me so we could have a relationship with Him and live in heaven with Him forever.
Now THAT’S a great Valentine’s gift.
AWANA games...playing with a purpose
AwanaGames™ features Awana clubs and youth programs from local churches in competition at the local, state, regional and national level. This exciting event is open to students in T&T, Trek and Journey. More than 600 AwanaGames events typically take place in the U.S. each year, with numerous others held worldwide.
Jan, an AwanaGames rookie, said: "This was my first year to experience the Games. What a huge blessing to see so many churches come together for God's glory. It was thrilling to see all those adults who give of themselves to touch the lives of kids for Christ!"
AwanaGames offers many benefits to churches, kids and families alike:
- Builds a stronger identity and closer bonds among members of a church's Awana ministry
- Motivates kids to attend Awana and complete handbook sections – requirements to qualify for their team – so that they learn God's Word in the process
- Connects area churches and leaders with each other for ongoing support
- Allows leaders to interact with clubbers' parents in a fun atmosphere
- Communicates the good news of Christ to non-churched spectators
Amidst all the energy and excitement of the team games, a break in the action always includes a presentation of the gospel message. Many family members and friends hear God's plan of salvation, some for the first time.
We'd like to take a team to the AWANA games again this year. We can take a team of 10-14 kids total. You must be in TnT and have completed and passed 10 sections in your book during this current club season buy the day of the meet. AWANA games are on Saturday, March 16 in Burlington at the Harvest Baptist Church. Talk to Pastor Wayne, TnT leaders, or Ms. Dawn if you want to go!
