Preschool and Children's Pastor

A lifetime resident of Hillsborough, Manley married his best friend Kathy in 1995. They have two boys: Trey and Gray. They also have an adopted daughter, Ashley. Manley, Kathy and their children enjoy spending time together as a family whether it be a vacation out of state, trip to the beach or impromptu trip out of town for a couple of days.

Manley has always been in the “saving” business, so to say. A local law enforcement officer for 10 years, he answered a calling to ministry in 2003 to work with children. He currently serves as the Preschool and Children’s Pastor at Ebenezer and his heart’s desire is for ALL to have a personal relationship with Christ. A humble man, you will frequently find him talking with others and making sure there is not a stranger in his midst. On Sunday morning, you’ll either find him in Discovery Cove meeting folks as they arrive or hanging out with K-6th grade kids in their Connection class.

Manley is God called, and divinely equipped and trained in his role as Preschool and Children’s Pastor. He is a 1987 graduate of Orange Senior High School and received his Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification in 1993. He continually seeks God’s will for his life, family and ministry.

Student Pastor

Derick works with students from 7th-12th grades.  Derick is a 2002 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University (B.S. Elementary Education).  He is also a 2007 graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Masters of Divinity Biblical Counseling).  Derick has been serving at Ebenezer since July, 2005.
Derick and his beautiful bride, Becky, hail from Cincinnati, Ohio.  (Go Bengals!)  They were married in July, 2003.  They have been blessed with the addition of two boys, Cade and Parker, into their family.  They are crazy sports fans, especially, when it comes to Notre Dame football and Duke basketball!  Derick and Becky enjoy any and every water sport, especially wakeboarding (Derick crashes a lot)!  Derick passionately desires to see kids elevate their relationships in Christ. 

Worship and Music Pastor

Wayne has been serving as music pastor at Ebenezer since July 2007.  Before coming to Ebenezer, Wayne served as music pastor at Sunnycrest Baptist Church in Marion, Indiana.  While serving full-time in Indiana, Wayne felt God leading him to return to education, giving him more opportunities to share the love of Jesus with the people around him.  He teaches music at Pathways Elementary School in Hillsborough, NC.

Wayne and his wife, Laura, are originally from NC and have been married since November 1998.  They have two sons, Isaac and Holden.

Church Secretary

Pat is the secretary for Ebenezer Baptist Church and is responsible for many duties in the office. She assists the Administrative staff in many ways from answering the phone to stuffing bulletins – whatever is necessary to complete projects for upcoming events including Sunday and Wednesday Worship services. One of her favorite duties is greeting our members and visitors as they stop by the office. She feels that our church family is her extended family.

Pat has been with Ebenezer Baptist Church since July, 1999. She has two children, Brian and daughter-in-law Sarah and daughter, Brooke and three “Grand Dogs”. Her favorite scripture is, Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
